Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle

A stunning double from Papiss Cisse kept Newcastle in the hunt for a
Champions League berth with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
The Magpies striker found the net in each half to keep the visitors
level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham and all but end Chelsea's
hopes of qualifying for Europe's elite via the Premier League.
The Blues were quickest out of the blocks and Meireles missed a couple
of early chances which the hosts paid dearly for on 19 minutes.
David Santon went on a surging run before playing in Cisse, and the
Senegalese teed himself up with his first touch to fire a stunning
volley past Petr Cech.
It took until the 36th minute before the Blues mustered a response
with Florent Malouda heading wide from a pinpoint Fernando Torres
cross.
Branislav Ivanovic then headed over from aMeireles corner before the
visitors went agonisingly close to a second when Demba Ba rattled the
bar a minute before the break.
John Obi Mikel was lucky to escape a red shortly after the restart
after he caught Cheik Tiote with an elbow in an aerial challenge that
left the Newcastle man needing lengthy treatment before he was
stretchered off.
The hosts continued to press for an equaliser and Frank Lampard went
close shortly after coming off the bench while John Terry saw his
header cleared off the line by Santon.
But Cisse ended any hopes of a draw for the home side when he found
the top rightcorner with an audacious curling effort from the corner
of the penalty area on the stroke of full time.
